About

I have taught all subjects to primary age children (4 – 11 years) in Hampshire and Portsmouth for over thirty years. I have taught in city and rural primary schools

In my last school pupil attainment was high although I also worked with pupils with a variety of special needs including dyslexia. I was a senior teacher responsible for Maths, Early Years, Assessment, RE, History, PE, Personal, Social and Health Education.

My particular strengths include motivating and encouraging children by making lessons interesting and relevant. I consider the learning style that the child prefers when planning my lessons.

Parents have often commented that I am good at establishing excellent relationships with children and ensuring the lessons are tailored to their needs. Parents regularly say that their child has grown in confidence since starting their private lessons and this has been reflected in their school work.

I am also the the co-author of the “Help Your Child to Count” series and the Learning Tree 123 Maths books.

Above all, my lessons are practical, fun and relevant to the interests of individual children. This provides a firm foundation for effective learning!
